Ingredients
- Boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- Marinara sauce
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh or dried basil
- Fresh garlic
- Yellow onion
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
Instructions
- Grease the slow cooker with olive oil or cooking spray.
- Add chopped onions and garlic to the bottom.
- Pour in half of the marinara sauce.
- Place chicken on top and season with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
- Pour remaining marinara sauce over the chicken.
- Cover and cook on low for 5–6 hours or high for 2.5–3 hours.
- Sprinkle mozzarella on top during the last 20 minutes of cooking.
- Cover until cheese melts completely.
- Serve hot over pasta, rice, or crusty bread.
