- 1½ tsp chili flakes
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- ½ tsp Dijon mustard
- ¼ cup water
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- ¼ tsp xanthan gum (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté garlic in olive oil over medium heat until fragrant.
- Add chili flakes and paprika; bloom spices for 30 seconds.
- Stir in brown sugar, vinegar, tomato paste, soy sauce, mustard, water, and salt.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add xanthan gum if using and blend or whisk until smooth.
- Let cool, then transfer to a clean jar. Store in the refrigerator.
