For the Beef:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef or thinly sliced beef strips

For the Sauce:

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning or mixed herbs

For Garnish:

  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped

Instructions

1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef or beef strips and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed.

3. Add butter to the skillet and stir in the chopped onion. Sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.

4. Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

5. Pour in the beef broth and use a wooden spoon to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

6. Stir in the heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 3-5 minutes until slightly thickened.

7. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and mix until melted and incorporated into the sauce.

8. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss well to coat it evenly with the sauce.

9. Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt or pepper if needed.

10. Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or basil, and additional Parmesan if desired.

Notes

This recipe works with any pasta shape—try it with rigatoni or tagliatelle for variation.

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for heavy cream.
